State Democratic Chairman Jim Pederson, who just resigned is the likely challanger to  Sen. Jon Kyl.

I dont think he has much of a chance, but it should be an interesting race. It has been quite a while since Arizona has had a competative Senate campaign.

Here is some polling data I came accross from may:

Having to resort to a party chairman as a Senate candidate is not a particularly good sign.

^^^^^^^^

Of course, at least the Democrats are running a candidate this time around.

That was my point.

When I went to the brilliant minds at Democratic Underground, one member tried to argue with me about how Kyl will loose re-election, and how Kucinich would win Ohio in an election. Kyl has a 89.2357% chance of winning.

Yes, Kyl will likely win but Pederson has lots and lots of money and will put up a good fight.

I don't think this will be as much of a blowout as many people think.

Add ten percent to your percentage chance of Kyl winning and you have the correct number.

That's true.  I wish the Dems would find a stronger candidate since Kyl's approval numbers weren't that great.

Why do you automatically assume a state party chairman isn't a strong candidate?

Mark Warner, among others, was a former state party chair.

I just heard about that today.

It's the first piece of Republican legislation I agree with in the past few years! I hope everyone gets behind it.

Are you serious? Do you really want to deport all immigrants? That bill is extremely unconstitutional.

That's not the bill. It's all voluntary but goes after corporations and requires worker permits to stay on legally in the US. Also means immigrants can't be paid less than minimum wage which liberals should like, and improves security in various ways.

Something ridiculous, more than a hundred million.

He is extremely wealthy from real estate. I think he made most of his money developing shopping malls over the past 25 years. He will be able to self-finance much of his campaign if he wants.
