Hey friends, I am SO sorry for my absence without even a word of why. I notified the President and PPT, but I wanted to do this out-front so you know I am here, and here to stay. In the recent weeks, I have been struggling with mononucleosis and feeling like I am in and out of existence. If that was not enough, my last week (and Monday + Today) were filled with giant statewide debate tournaments, midterms, and basketball games. But I want to emphasize that these are excuses and I should have made this notice before, but things piled up on my RL schedule and I found myself too ill or too busy to focus (as I try to do) on my Atlasia stuff.

On this issue, I am happy to announce that I have accomplished a multitude of things that I feel will really rebuild activity in the game, I will present budget findings/fixes to Scott's great stab at healthcare reform, work with Sen. Leinad on bringing my idea of Congressional Committees into fruition, and getting some fun, in-depth bills to be debated by EVERYONE, not just us stuffy Representatives.

Anyways, I want to thank all y'all for your understanding, and I promise in the coming days to really revitalize (along with Leinad, and the President) this game.

Y'all rock!

-Nev

I hope you get better soon.

One recommendation I would make is for a line of clear succession being added to the rules of both chambers. So if the Speaker is gone, the most senior House member or a designated deputy speaker automatically steps forward to keep things moving. That is the best way to ensure the bicameral system doesn't keep jamming every few weeks.

This entirely. Part of me wanted to tell Peebs to forcibly take over yesterday, which is another shining example of why you always PM people first before assuming they're dead. Tongue

I think Never should just declare Peebs Deputy Speaker or something of that short. I believe the rules allow for the Speaker to designate someone in such fashion. I know the Senate does because this came up when Clyde left for health reasons.

Why do our congressional leaders keep getting sick?

As the theoretical deputy speaker, I'm perfectly fine with becoming Acting Speaker while Nev is away.
