And almost as close as Ohio. That's interesting, right?

Texas went for Trump by nearly the same margin as Texas went for McCain. Trump also has bad-blood with the Bush family, who have deep connections in Texas.

Yes. It's also why Harris and Fort Bend County were super Blue this time.

Texas is the next big blue state with FL & AZ. It will take time - 10/15 years but it is coming with changing demographics.

Having said that I am worried about the mid-west being completely lost - Dunno how long even Chicago can prevent a sweep in Illinois!

This is a Dem victory.

Contrast with a Rep victory.  It is possible to overwhelm Chicago.
But look at the collar counties. If Trump-like figures overwhelm the Republican Party, then these will only be pushed towards the Dems.

Anyone not thinking Texas can't be a swing state should look into how Fort Bend County, TX voted this year.

It's going to take a lot more than Fort Bend. Fort Bend followed the demographic trends of this year, its going to take Tarrant to flip in order for Democrats to have a shot.

The map is shifting. In 2024 Ohio and Iowa will be red states while Texas, Arizona and Georgia will be swing states and may even vote for a Democrat. Clinton's coalition was an election or two too soon, but the Democrats do have reason to be hopeful

No election is too soon, what the heck are you talking about seriously. If anything, these changes are exactly the ones we've basically been waiting for for a few generations now, at least for the past 15 years. Where you were for the past 15 years I don't even wanna dream about. Clearly not on this planet though, if you find this surprising whatsoever. Seriously? The ONLY single thing surprising about the entire 2016 presidential elections were that Florida and Alaska didn't happen to be more Democratic. When it comes to the remaining 48 states, they were pretty much exactly what every single smart head in this world has been predicted for decades, and at least for extremely many years now. So don't come to me and say that it was surprising, cause you'll garner exactly no sympathy.

Because of facts. You know facts? Do Republicans know facts? Do Republicans even know what the word science means? There's simply the fact that whether you like it or not, only four states in the US have trended more rapidly Democratic than Texas. Those four are Colorado, Virginia, Utah and Alaska. That's a fact. It couldn't get anywhere near closer to a fact than that very fact. In fact these five states are by extremely far the five states that have (relatively speaking) moved the most Democratic out of all 50 states in the US. The fact that you don't want to aknowledge it shows what kind of a prick you are.

Didn't the Rio Grande valley trend Trump's way, along with some traditional Democratic counties in the North and (I think) East? Had read that, but hadn't looked into it yet.
