Exactly, either way the election is going to leave a significant part of one or possibly even both parties very, very, very pissed.

Yep. The greater political volatility that we are seeing is unlikely to fade away anytime soon. It really feels like a new era has begun in the US.
Are we talking 1850s, 1960s or 1990s here?

More like 1770s, I fear.

The "worse thing that can happen" does not involve Florida, so no "repeat of 2000" is in the works.
The worse is that we have the 272 FireWall scenario, Clinton is President and clownish trump goes back to the circus where he belongs. Easy-peasy. Done.

That is the worst thing that you can tolerate happening, not the worst thing that can actually happen.

Well then in that case, that answer was already posted. Here it is ....

That Trump wins and brings about a nuclear holocaust.

I don't remember Trump promising to implement a no-fly zone over Syria and confront the Russian pilots so bravely taking on the Islamic State and the odious Syrian "rebels."

But you (and all of America) do know that trump does not have the temperament to control himself with having 3AM twitter "wars." So as petty as those topics were on trump's judgment that lead him to act like a childish clown, what on Earth would he do if an extremely serious international matter/dispute were to arise involving the possibility of war ?

Provoke a military coup. His cabinet of yes men and toadys wouldn't rule him incapacitated, leaving the only options for stopping World War Three to be his Secret Service detail shooting him or the military ignoring civilian authority.

See the movie "Recount" with Kevin Spacey (although Republicans probably don't like the fact that it was  primarily more sympathetic to Democrats) if you want to know more about the 2000 fight. It is mostly about what happened after election day. I agree that we don't want to go through anything like that again. The election could be a lot closer than most Democrats think, but I think that the clock has run out for Trump and I don't think that he will get more than 268 electoral votes, although he may make a fuss if the election is really close.. it's hard to predict what he might do.

Why am I not at all surprised that Chairman Sanchez is a Trump supporter. Lol, so much for libertarianism and Gary Johnson.

Obviously Trump winning easily would be the worst possible outcome? Like, if it's a 2000 scenario there's at least hope he wouldn't end up as President.

Pretty amazing seeing so many of the former Ron Paul people fall in line behind him.

Florida and New Hampshire. Critical swing states. Just like in 2000. If Gore had won NH he wouldn't have needed Florida.

Not if you're aware of those Ron Paul newsletters and his supporters' conspiracy theories about globalists and bankers. It is telling though how they'll abandon a libertarian like Johnson for a cryptofascist like Trump, shows where their priorities lie.

The worst thing that could happen is Trump wins.

It would literally mean an end to America as we know it, as he is a bonafide authoritarian who has been campaigning on fascist policies.

>Johnson
>"libertarian"

Did you not see the post earlier today where some of your friends with the red avatars were fully embracing the belief that Trump tried to kill his own staffers in a staged arson, is a puppet of Putin, and that Comey is apparently a GOP sleeper agent that somehow infiltrated the administration? I'd be a bit more worried about the nonsense from your side.

Well, Trump isn't going to shoot Russian planes out of the sky and start the international incident that he apparently doesn't have the temper to handle to begin with.

Why would trump want to shoot Russian planes down out of the sky over Syria ?
trump will just nuke the airfield in Syria which houses the Russian planes, and as a second prize he will also nuke the Russian military port in Syria on the Mediterranean.

Trump - 268
Clinton - 264
McMullin - 6

Then Drumpf is installed by Ryan and maybe Kaine is installed by Schumer.

And in that case, who knows what happens. I really don't know how long it will take for a very fatal error to be made by Trump. For Bush, he was dealt a sh**t hand. He could have taken more responsibility in the beginning, but by the end, everything we said would happen, did. For Trump, does everything we say will happen happen in months or does he get reelected and maybe win one of his midterms before it does?

What would be the chances Ryan picks Hillary instead of Trump? ...since he and Trump hate each other...

If she gets the most votes convincingly.

We are not having a president "installed" who didn't come close to winning let alone didn't run. Period.

I agree with the OP. The worst thing that could happen is for CLinton to win the PV and lose the EC, especially if FL is the swing state. THat could happen if Trump flips FL, OH, IA, ME-2 and PA.

Hillary is found to have a collection of naked photos of Anthony Weiner in her emails.

Can't it just be "nuclear holocaust"? I mean, if a finger is on the button, who cares if it's tiny and orange or nicely manicured? It's still a nuclear holocaust.

Fair enough. I just know it wouldn't be the goofy pot smoker that climbs mountains that would push the big red button. Wink

The worst thing that can happen at this point is still a Trump win, plain and simple.
