Somebody honestly having a "Trump for Faster Green Cards" for serious ones is so laughable too.

Does he get points for trying?

He's a big fan of Hindu!

Hindu right wingers are rabidly anti muslim and are encouraged by Trump's anti muslim rhetoric. The Indian Prime minister is a  staunch right winger

I know...

I don't think you see the jokes.

There is no country or person called "Hindu."

Supporting Trump because he'll make faster green cards is laughable.

And the quip on this being the new "Hindus for Aurangzeb" is funny if you know the background.

Also, don't think Trump wouldn't "otherize" Indians if he thought it would help him.

Narendra Modi is no where shape or form at all like Donald Trump. Modi is more like Reagan or Thatcher(Not as good as they were though) and at worst is like Bibi.

The Bibi comparison might be more apt. Also Erdogan and Rajpakse from Sri Lanka are a close fit.

He's among the wave of right wingers across the globe who came to power toppling a centrist government promising simplistic solutions to systemic problems.

Give him some time. The very first acts that Modi did after power was to give the government more say in appointing Supreme court judges.

In a developing democracy like India, this is a huge threat to the independence of the court. his administration style is more centralised and less focused on delegation. His goal is to undermine democracy slowly but steadily.

in most of the countries of this world your way of dealing with the judge question seems....weird.

one could argue it's more honest since judges surely also have a personal opinion to handle....but in general nearly all democracies see judges as non-partisan and except them to behave that way.#

otherwise i assume this is more about stacking the courts. Wink

In the US the government appoints judges. And if your going to call modi out on this remember FDR tried to pack the court too.

yeah, the different branches usually appoint judges.

but as far as i know, the US is the only liberal democracy which makes such a partisan show out the whole thing.

and ofc i am calling FDR out...like mister orban, putin and kazynski.

i follow the stannis-approach on that: praise someone for his good deeds and criticize him for his failures.

The problem with Modi is that he is, literally, a mass murderer. Other than that, though, certainly, he is not the sort of a politician I would ever consider voting for, he would be ok as a representative of an ideology I personally heavily dislike. But there is that minor thing...

Trump seems to have a continuing problem with words, similarly to his issues with "the cyber."

In a developing democracy, the separation of executive and judiciary is very important. Since there is no separation between executive and legislature (the head of the ruling party is the prime minister), this is one of the key checks and balances on power.
