His base is going to vote for him even if he is caught in bed with his daughter.

He can say pretty much what ever he wishes and the race wouldn't be won or lost by more then 2points either way.

True.  It has been breathtaking watching the cultists proudly tout that their candidate has admitted that Obama was born in the US as though it is some kind of achievement.  They must be thrilled every time he manages to hold a press conference without calling Hillary a "bitch."  Maybe he'll make it to all three debates!  Maybe he could even write the next major policy speech!  (OK, maybe not.)  Nobody holds Donald Trump to a lower standard than his supporters, and he knows it.  You can see it in the way that he brazenly abandons their ideas after manipulating them into getting their support.

Fortunately, the cultists are outnumbered.  And there is no universe in which Donald Trump will make no gaffes in the next six weeks - though certainly one where he is graded on a curve and given extra credit for not saying dumb things.  The joy of hideously abysmal expectations is continuously exceeding them.  That got him through the Republican primary but thankfully for the country and the world, the United States is no Republican Party.

If you think multiple days of the news cycle talking about his birthersim lies and the possible assassination of his opponent is a good thing and will help with college educated voters, go ahead...
