Geoff Hoon (Leader of the House) has just said that he favours making going into polling stations on election day complusory... and maybe a system of fines and/or rewards (ie: council tax breaks) to make sure people do...

He's been talking sense recently (usually about dealing with disengagement from the political process) and it's... it's... ever so slightly disturbing.
What's happend to the Geoff "Buff" Hoon we all loved to mock? Sad

Yeah, I'm a fan of compulsory voting too. Also exists in Belgium and Luxembourg, for those under 65 in Brazil, and nominally in Italy although there is no fine.
