Creating a separate thread so people can focus on the Texas bribe.

Can't wait to hear Seriously's thoughts on this considering he's the most ardent Clinton Foundation hater on this forum, and that's given that the foundation actually uses the money for charitable causes.

IF they agreed to end operations in the state, wouldn't that be valid reason to stop pursuing the case? I see no issue other than the radical hypocrisy of Hillary Clinton's campaign.

He's actually corrupt. Why would he want to fix a system that he explicitly benefits from?

I don't necessarily think there was anything shady about Abbott's decision, but it's funny that Trump felt the need to treat it like there was by giving him a check.

I agree with you that Trump is certainly odd, but I don't want to defame Abott, who seems like a great guy.

It's almost certainly within the AG's discretion to stop pursuing the case at that point, but they could also pursue it further.  For example, they could press for some restitution to defrauded consumers and/or for penalties as defined by state law.  Here are a few relevant paragraphs from the Texas AG website (https://texasattorneygeneral.gov/cpd/consumer-protection):

"The Attorney General for the state of Texas protects consumers and the legitimate business community by filing civil lawsuits under the Deceptive Trade Practices Act and other consumer protection statutes.

Consumer complaints filed with this agency may form the basis for an investigation into a company's business practices. In some cases, significant numbers of complaints about a business may give rise to legal action, not on behalf of the individual complainants, but to enforce state law. The decision to investigate or file a lawsuit is based on a number of factors.

Lawsuits are filed on behalf of the state of Texas and the public good. This agency cannot represent individual consumers. Nevertheless, some legal actions do produce restitution for individual consumers."

How come this is making a rebound now? This was already news during the primary (the TX & FL bribes). Now I'm seeing stuff on it again.

For all the dogging of Hillary and her ethics, Trump always seems to get a pass on his possibly criminal behavior. I mean, who cares if he bribed a couple State Attorney Generals to drop/not pursue investigations into his fraudulent university. What's really important is emails! EMAILS!!
