Sometime in 2015:
"Man I know Trump is behaving crazy now, but this will all change and he'll start running a more serious campaign once Iowa and New Hampshire are about to vote and the campaign really begins"
and then....
"Trump will switch to a more serious campaign once he becomes the clear frontrunner"
and then...
"Trump will change and become more professional and serious once he locks up the nomination."
and then...
"Trump will probably change to a more mainstream conservative campaign once he picks his running mate."
and then....
"Trump will change to a more moderate and serious campaign after the conventions and the race officially starts."
and then....
"Trump will have to start a more serious and less absurd campaign sometime. Maybe around the end of summer or if he gives a big policy speech."
and then....
"Hillary Clinton something something emails"

Yeah, I don't think anyone actually believes that Trump will change his tone. People just try to tell themselves that he'll "pivot" or that Trump's nonsense has to be an act because it's more comforting than the idea that Trump really is the person he portrays.

Yep. TrumpMiller is a stupid, ignorant, mess of a candidate, nothing more.

He could still pivot in the debates. I don't know that he will but that would be the place to do it.

I am ashamed to say that, before the primaries ended, I thought he would become a fairly conventional Republican candidate once he'd have to face Hillary Clinton.  I knew he'd still be provocative, but I still believed he'd put some effort into becoming magnanimous.  Boy, was I wrong.

The only thing I hope and pray will pivot, at this point, is the Republican Party.  Because otherwise, it will disintegrate as an institution, if it hasn't already done so.

Tbh in the primaries I thought he wouldn't pivot his tone, but pivot on the issues. I.e. Focus away from GOP-specific populism to general "ah everything is crappy" populism against vague "elites". I didn't count on the fact that he himself would become susceptible to alt-right loony-tunes advisors,

Only in this country with this radical biased media is "Make Mexico Great Again Also" a sign of the alt-right.

He literally just pivoted on immigration.

You think that? Good, good, you were the target

Going round in circles involves pivots but is not pivoting.

I've gone on record as saying that a 70 year-old is set in their ways and is NOT going to change. Especially since he has told us he is not going to change.

It's really human nature. When we get that old we are who we are and we are set. People may pivot in small ways but even if Trump "pivots" one day, he'll go back to what is comfortable for him and pivot back because that's who he is and what he does.

The end.

So there is no way 68 year-old Clinton stop lying and being extremely careless? Sad

Here is the weird thing. In a technical sense, yesterday Trump did "pivot" on the substance of his immigration plan. He is no longer calling for deporting all 11m undocumented and he even left the door open to some kind of of path for them some day in the future.  So it was a 'policy' pivot but his tone was actually more Trumpian than ever.

This strange dichotomy actually got the NYT into some trouble, as they (initially) reported it was a "a stark turnaround" and a "softening his immigration plans" that "risked support from some conservatives". After they were mocked for this they rewrote their story to reflect how the tone was "so jarring that his true vision and intentions on immigration were hard to discern"

Personally I don't think she's a liar, any more than any of us are liars. And I don't believe she is careless. I think she is very professional in everything she does. The perception people have of the things she does is just that, perception, but it doesn't make it the truth about Hillary.

At any rate, Hillary is Hillary, but the thing with her is that I do see her change. She attempts to learn from her mistakes and move forward. At least she doesn't proclaim to the world that she is who she is and she's not going to change. She always tries to be better. That's my perception.

Yawn. He's pivoted on basically everything. By November you won't be able to tell him apart from Clinton.

I already supported him so not really. Lol at people questioning the genuinity of the pivot, of course he's not genuine. Is any politician "genuine" when they pivot? It's a flip flop plain and simple, no different than Hillary flopping on TPP.

"Pivot" = flip-flop

And he's flip-flopped seven times on every issue - he's pivoting so much that he's basically an office chair being sat on by a 3-year-old at this point.

I laugh at the GOP diehards still pretending that this thin-skinned orange ignoramus is a decent choice to represent their party.
