This is really sad (the shooting, not the suspect being arrested) and I hope that this is just a random event and not part of a larger anti-Muslim trend.

Pathetic awful crime. The results of Trump's anti-muslim bigotry more than likely.

I know that area of Ozone Park, Queens. It's a swing area. Italians on the other side, and ethnic Indians and Pakistanis, etc, on the other side.

And Ted Cruz, John McCain, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney don't have the blood on their hands for their own Islamaphobia?

Most folks need to learn to better distinguish intelletually between peaceful Muslims minding their own business and the brutal Islamist Jidhadists. It's important stuff.

Of course, and Rick "Hezbollah is building bases in Mexico" Santorum didn't contribute to the need for the clarity? What about all the "cowards don't cut and run" Republicans from 2006 who used Islamaphobia to justify the Iraq War?

The GOP establishment set the conditions for Trump to exploit Islamaphobia. Trump's "Muslim ban" and attitude towards Islam is my least favorite aspect of an otherwise decent candidate, and these policies are ironically his most mainstream position within the GOP. The party made our bed with this when we had folks like Allen West hosting Pamela Geller, etc, and now the party establishment must lie in that bed.

I agree a horrible crime,

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Ozone Park a rough neighborhood to begin with?

I can't really take issue with what you're saying; there's nothing about American rhetoric concerning Islam over the past 15 years and out of just about every corner that hasn't bugged the hell out of me. American foreign policy has been just as bad, with senseless and needless destabilization of multiple Muslim countries.
