"The NRA just gave her an A rating -- an A rating -- and if you get an A rating from the NRA, you're basically taking their talking points and doing their bidding," Blagojevich said. "And I would urge her to forget about the NRA, stop pandering to the right wing and join us and help us pass a ban on assault weapons."

This could get bloody before august..

Interesting, Go Topinka though you don't have a hope to win! Sad

Topinka was the frontrunner, as I recall.  She is an excellent example of a strong moderate Republican.

Blagojevich is apparently going for the suburban Chicago vote.  I suppose he could do worse than this.

This race is probably going to go for Topinka, but she is my one of my last choices for IL Governor. MY first is Jim Oberweis (as I always support pro-life businessmen for office, whatever their party, such as Bil Gluba in 2004) then followed by State Senator Bill Brady.

One of the better newspaper ads of all time was one the NRA placed in the New York Times and other major newspapers, back when Clinton was President. It had a quote from Clinton about the many Democrats that had lost their seats because they were opposed by the NRA, and then below that was a list of incumbents who were defeated in (then) recent elections by NRA-backed challengers. A long list.

I guess Blago has been somewhere other than the planet Earth for the last couple decades. Maybe he learned how to govern on another planet, thus explaining his remarkably sheer incompetence on this one.

The Guv needs anything to divert attention from yet more bad press. This week his anti-discrimination panel is in disarray and a good number of its members are resigning. Here's the story from the Sun-Times.
