If elected, will Hillary keep any Obama cabinet members?

I think Loretta Lynch may stay on as AG and Susan Rice could also stay (maybe in a different position).

If Loretta Lynch manages to somehow prevent Hillary from having to face an indictment, she will have earned her place as Clinton's AG. Yes, Clinton's heavily qualified, completely impartial AG; our government at its best...

As a rule she has to. If she doesn't like anyone, she will keep some lesser secretary. Maybe she keeps Foxx and Vilsack around.

I hope she doesn't keep Julian Castro.  He's a HUD mess.
Samantha Power might stick around, although she's also been inept at consolidating an anti-Russia international policy.
Vilsack was born for SecAg, no reason to get rid of him.

Usually presidents appoint their own man (or woman) at AG so I think Lynch is gone (supreme court replacement for RBG perhaps?).

Vilsack (prominent Clinton supporter in 08) and Carter are the two that may stay though the former has been there since the start of Obama's term and may want to finally take a break.

Possibly John King - otherwise he'll have a very brief tenure in office (plus his aims seem fairly in sync with Clintonianism). Castro may be shuffled up to a more high profile job if Democrats really have a strong desire to groom him for higher office. Most of the foreign affairs people will be gone, assuming she takes a different stance to Obama internationally (maybe keeping Power, who is the most inerventionist of Obama's staff).

I think she'll mostly want to pick new people, but on the other hand, given how hard it is to get people through the Senate these days, I wouldn't be surprised if a few Cabinet members stuck around. For example, whoever she picks for HHS could face a fight just because of Obamacare, and same with the EPA because of the Clean Power Plan.

Castro would be Vice President.

But yes, Hillary may ask Lynch to stay on since she's been AG for just a short period of time.

I think Loretta Lynch may stay on as Attorney General. John Kerry may stay on as Secretary of State. Tom Vilsack may stay on as Secretary of Agriculture.

She sent up smoke signals to Lynch in the Times that she'd keep her, so I would not be surprised at all if it happened.

Probably stay on(67%+ chance): Tom Vilsack, Ashton Carter
Lean stay on(55%+ chance): Jack Lew
May or may not(45-55% chance): Loretta Lynch, Penny Pritzker, Sylvia Burqell
Lean not(33-45% chance): Sally Jewell
Probably not: The rest

IIRC, don't Powers and Clinton dislike each other?

Loretta Lynch will probably stay on as AG.
Tom Perez will be promoted to a higher portfolio; potentially Treasury.
Julian Castro will probably stay.
Tom Vilsack remains at Agriculture unless picked for VP.

Powers, Rice and other White House National Security personnel will probably go; Clinton did not have a good relationship with them while at State.

I would be surprised if more than two of them stayed on.  She'll be a new president.  She'll want a new team that's hers, not a bunch of holdovers from the last guy.  I can see one or two of them being kept on, more likely in the more minor departments.  She'll want her own people there for big jobs like Secretary of State.

Only thing that might change that is if Republicans keep control of the Senate, and they drag their feet on approving new Cabinet appointees.  I guess she could ask the current Cabinet to hang on until their replacements are confirmed by the Senate.

Ashton Carter. Gets things done; well-respected on both sides of the aisle.

Perez is debatably qualified for Treasury.

His experience in civil rights might make him a good Attorney General. He served from 1986 to 1989 as a law clerk and has lots of experience in the Civil Rights division of the Justice Department. He also served as Director of the Office for Civil Rights for the HHS from 1998 to 2001.

TL;DR: Attorney General or Secretary of HHS would be good positions for him, and both would be much better than Treasury. If he served as Secretary of HHS for two to four years, then maybe he would be qualified for the Department of Treasury.

One thing to remember is that she said that half her Cabinet will be women:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com.au/entry/hillary-clinton-cabinet-women_us_571fdc6ce4b0b49df6a98491

So I guess if there are any holdovers from Obama, it's more likely to be women than men.

Perez will rotate to something.  Vilsack has been Sec of Ag for 8 years, so if he stays it'll be elsewhere.  By all accounts he's a very good administrator.  Ash Carter could stay for awhile.
That's probably it.

I'm certain she will want her as SoS, but the GOP will block her because...Benghazi.

She will never be confirmed by the Senate.  Blocking her will be the one filibuster the GOP will succeed at.

Yeah, no. Because:

Kerry is certainly angling to stay on, and I think some continuity in the realm of foreign policy would be wise personnel wise.
