He's a horrible person who was an alcoholic.

However, his ties were more towards Tito. The Greek Communist ideology wasn't practiced for long enough to really understand if it was more neutralist socialism or Soviet Communism. The former is definitely better than the authoritarian monarchists, a great number of whom later supported the military junta's and the junta's authoritarianism.

HP, although he's my great-grandfather. His daughther, however, my grandma (1930-2009), was the greatest ever. His two other sons died early of heart attacks as far as I know (around the time of my birth).

The communist side was the better side in the greek civil war. Their ties were more along with Tito and Yugoslavia, and the opposing side, was a bunch of monarchists who committed great atrocities, had no respect for human rights and often collaborated with fascists, who were intent on keeping Greece under a military dictatorship or more so a military-controlled society.
