December 15, 2017: President Donald Trump announces he will not run for re election

Wolf Blitzer: President Donald Trump has announced he will not run for re election in 2020. Here is what the President has said

"I've been doing some thinking about not only my future but the future of this country and seeing how much progress I've made just in the first year of being in office I think after 3 more years we won't be needing a second term"

With the President announcing he won't run for re election there will need to be a new Republican nominee in 2020. for now here is the current polling among the potential Democratic presidential candidates. Former Vice President Joe Biden remains the frontrunner for the democratic primary in 2020 in many polls
