Frank Luntz, speaking with Mike Huckabee who hosted the May 26th Hannity, gives an excellent summary of Trump's success:

Will Trump continue to do well with the American electorate based on his persona? Or will Democrats find a way to make a case against that support (and if they do, how do they do that)?

"Do well" and "Win the General Election" are two different concepts.  But Trump intends to ride his persona to the White House, and he just may.

I can't emphasize enough the powerful appeal to the "Silent Majority" Trump has made.  The folks Trump is appealing to are not exactly silent, but they are a majority, and if they are not busy being politically active, they ARE busy working, trying to stay afloat, believing in the desirability of work, but seeing no reward in it beyond what the last pay period yielded.  These people are not only dumped on by the left, they are dumped on by the Establishment that they THOUGHT was on their side.  Trump's persona gives tribute to hard work.  Hillary's persona gives tribute to class grievances.  Take a guess who will be appealing to those who actually do the work of society.
