There are so many potential upsides here:

- 94 years old, and would therefore make Hillary Clinton look young in comparison.
- Not only a woman, but the first woman ever to serve in statewide office in North Dakota.
- Her 3 months in Senate give her much, much more experience in politics than Donald Trump, while still maintaining that 'outsider' feeling.

The only thing that Burdick gives to Clinton that Wayne Mixson doesn't is her gender. And Mixson more than makes up for it by being the Governor of Florida (swing state!) for three days in 1987, making him an outsider with more experience than the Donald.

Didn't Mixson become a Republican later in life though? I thought I saw him on a list of Jeb Bush endorsers.

He's endorsed Republicans, but I don't think he's actually become one, per se.

Yes, but doesn't that mean Mixson would be unacceptable to Sandernistas? Burdick has kept a low profile since she left the Senate 24 years ago, so nobody truly has anything to attack her on.
