Nah, she's too much of a housewife, and lacks the balls that Hillary has.

For president or Senate? I think Texans like their women without balls.

Kay Bailey Hutchison has balls.  Not literally though, I hope.

Texans may like their women to be weak and submissive, but they still like their politicians to have vigor and decisiveness, regardless of their gender.  Laura Bush falls into the first group.

Texas women politicians are among the most ornery in this country.  Try Carole Keeton Rylander (Strayhorn, now).  She won nearly 65% of the vote in Texas under the slogan "One Tough Granny", and her loose cannon of a mouth.

Great First Lady!

She will not be running for anything, anytime, anywhere.

After her time in the White House, she will do charitable work, and will continue to promote education and literacy.

A great lady in my estimation!

It's unlikely since she'd have to change her party to run.  Laura Bush is a registered Democrat, and is pro-choice.

Come to think of it, she's the only Democrat who could win that Texas Senate seat.

Laura Bush is a registered Democrat.

Seriously?  That's actually kinda interesting; I didn't know that.

She cannot be a registered Democrat as there is no registered party affliation in Texas.

Everyone's a Republican, except for me... hehe

Laura is not a Democrat. During an interview, Laura said she married into the Republican Party or something along those lines. Her family when she was growing up were Democrats though (and her parents still are Dems, I believe).

If she is a Republican, she is much more in-line with the Susan Collins & Olympia Snowe side of the GOp than the George Bush side.

The only thing I know is that she favors abortion rights but I would say that she's more moderate than the Dubyas, Santorums and Frists of the GOP.

Are Democrats totally out of the running in Texas, these days? Even moderate ones

Yes, and Dianne Feinstein is a registered Republican.

which reminds us why her husband would rather do the intern than her.

I agree.  Laura's all woman.  and we're probably not ready for a woman pres.  again, Hillary has a decent shot at winning.  (the "ball" thing)

The Oklahoma City NBC affiliate just reported on their Monday Noon News, that Lynne Cheney is urging Laura Bush to seek the GOP Presidential nomination?

Personally, I think her chances are just as high as Hillary Clinton.  The chances of Elvis raising from the dead is greater, in my opinion.

Hillary has the not entirely negligible advantage of having held elected office.
