How would the GOP race be looking at this point if the only candidates running were Ted Cruz and Trump?

Do you mean from the very beginning, a la Clinton and Sanders (in which case Cruz would be leading on account of the South and trump would be playing catchup), or if Kasich dropped tomorrow (his supporters split between Cruz and not voting)?

From the beginning

No Jeb!, no Rubio, no other establishment-friendly candidate would mean the party would have held its nose and thrown its full weight behind Cruz.  He would have swept Trump away after March 1.

If it was Trump versus Cruz from the beginning, Cruz would be the presumptive nominee by now.

TRUMP would beat Rafael in the end. He appeals to more factions.

I would say it would be no different.

In a debate, Trump still would have labelled him "Lyin' Ted".

Cruz has had his chance to shine. He has left his run too late.

I think the "Republican establishment" would've tried desperately to get another candidate in the race at first, and would only start lining up behind Cruz around now. It would be close, but Cruz would probably be slightly ahead.
