http://crooksandliars.com/2016/04/tim-robbins-slams-press-winning-south

Actor Tim Robbins blasted assumptions about Hillary Clinton's electability during his introduction of Bernie Sanders at a rally in Wisconsin this afternoon.

"After the Southern primaries, you* had called the election. And who's fooling who? Winning South Carolina in the Democratic primary is about as significant as winning Guam," he said.

He added, "No Democrat is going to win in South Carolina in the general election."

Didn't we agree to set up a safe space so that Lyndon would stop getting triggered by Sanders?

Straight out the Bill Clinton playbook from 2008.

Am I the only one who cringes when people think that primaries should be ranked in importance based on who wins them in a GE?

Some people don't seem to understand that red vs. blue arguments don't apply to primaries.

Some people don't seem to understand that red vs. blue arguments don't apply to primaries.

That's the minor issue. The major issue is hearing a "liberal" saying to a majority African-American electorate that their votes don't count.

Straight out the Bill Clinton playbook from 2008.

Precisely, which is why it's sad to see from anyone. I hope the people taking issue with it now were disturbed when Hillary and co. were using the same talking points back then though.

And the likes of Nebraska, Idaho and Alaska are solid D states I take it Tim?

Bernie seems to attract a real bunch of morons as his celebrity campaign surrogates.

Yeah, Sanders is winning the swing states. Who needs VA, FL, OH, NC, IA or NV?

Bernie Sanders surrogate Tim Robbins, warming up the crowd before Saint Bernie arrives, tells his audience that some Clinton wins are worth less than others. In mocking her primary wins in certain states, he remarks:

"Winning South Carolina in the Democratic primary is about as significant as winning Guam."

I don't understand why Bernie has these people around his campaign. Does he really think that South Carolina, with its large Black population, would appreciate being equated to an island territory in Micronesia?

Further, I'm struck by the arrogance and audacity of the Sanders camp to downplay primary wins but prop up undemocratic caucus wins in such notable states as Alaska.

Of course, I disagree with that assessment, but downplaying losses is what everyone seems to do.

How would Sanders act if a Clinton surrogate said the same thing regarding Oklahoma? I like Sanders but his campaign is acting immature.

I took a look today at Robbins' twitter and boy, is the guy a smug dick or what?
At first he posted a classic non-apology apology whining about how his words were taken out of context, etc.

And then after a day of silence he suddenly started blasting the "Hillbots" who have no right to criticize him because they support a candidate who is responsible for the Iraq War!
Talk about non-sequitur.
Really, why do these people don't simply admit they made a gaffe, say they are sorry and move on?

Yet I'm guessing this will receive 0.000001% of as much coverage.

This kind of arrogance doesn’t surprise me coming from the Sandernistas. I’ve seen the same argument used by some Sanders’s supporters on my Facebook diminishing her big wins in the South because “those are red states and Democrats aren’t going to win them anyways so their votes don’t matter,” yet they fail to look at the litany of red states their candidate has won, especially in caucuses. I mean, do they really think Sanders would carry those deep red states like Alaska, Idaho, Oklahoma, Utah, etc. that Democrats haven't won in decades? Even against Trump, the answer is still no.

Not sure why so many people on here are ridiculing the OP for posting this. I heard the same arguments in 2008 when Hillary was winning the rural areas and Obama supporters kept saying “Democrats aren’t going to win those counties anyways so their votes are insignificant.” This kind of smugness on the left needs to go. This notion that the votes cast from blue states and urban areas are the only votes that matter really does a disservice to the party, especially when we keep preaching about how we want EVERYONE to vote and how we count EVERY vote and how we fight against voter disenfranchisement and voter suppression.
