How stupid are the people of Virginia for voting for this loser over George Allen?

So, you're slanderously accusing TRUMP of being racist, yet you would rather have had an actual racist in the Senate than Jim Webb?

Would I rather have someone who used a racial slur once (who aligns with me on essentially all foreign-policy and economic matters) or someone pointlessly enabling an actual racist for the sake of their own ego? Easy decision.

You should really read about Allen's history before making another white noise here.

Also, as much as I dislike Trump and what he stands for, supporting or opposing him was hardly an issue in 2006.

He lost because he used a racial slur once, yes. Other instances were not widely publicized (though they certainly happened, I'm not denying that).

trump wasn't an issue at all in 2006, of course, but he is now in 2016, and certainly the people in Arlington County and other heavy-Webb areas outside of low-population Appalachia (ie, the places that gave him the victory) are regretting their votes now.

I don't believe George Allen lost because of his "Macaca" comment.  I believe he lost because of a combination of Virginia's changing demographics and increased anti-war sentiment in 2006.

Jim Webb has never said anything racist. Like legitimately he has not. Other than saying he would vote for Trump. He previously opposed affirmative action (and then switched to supporting it) but if you think that's racist, then you're saying every Republican member of Congress is racist. Which yeah, I guess some people would say that but it's not exactly a mainstream view. He has said some White people are poorer than some Black people, which is indisputably true.

It's disappointing to see Webb flush his reputation down the toilet just to appear as a moderate hero.

Webb was a reliable Democratic senator from 2007 - 2012. Wonder what changed. Maybe something personal from when he and Hillary were both in the Senate together?

Probably how he got tarred and feathered on social media for being a racist because he dare talk about the fact that there are poor White people.

Pretty much everyone that served in the Senate with Clinton considered her a valuable colleague, unlike certain candidates for President.

Is there any chance of a Trump/Webb ticket?

No, TRUMP will likely choose someone who is not a white male. Martinez or Haley. If it's a white male, it's gonna be Kasich.

Webb must really regret retiring in 2012 and not being in the spotlight anymore.

Things may change after TRUMP is nominated. She'll be out of the governor's mansion in less than three years. What then to do? She's still at a young age and being VP would be great step in her career. However, I think Susana Martinez is more likely.

Don't be silly. Ben Tillman is a logical choice for tRUMP's VP.

That would be amazing. I've been fantasizing either that or Carson/Webb ever since he dropped out.

I've always really like Jim, he's an extremely sensible dude. I would definitely affiliate with the Democratic party if he embodied the modern Democratic party outlook.

yes, a guy who embraced the confederate flag as a somehow legit expression of "culture pride" rather than white solidarity, when even Republicans lke Haley and Bentley, etc. etc. rejected it as a well-forgotten relic, is truly "reasonBle".

as is anyone who considers voting for Trump, but i digress.

Ew.  This is the problem with the modern GOP.

Moderate heroes and "independent" voters are plague on the US democratic system.

Trump probably won Webb over by refusing to condemn southern heritage organizations like the Ku Klux Klan.

Don't make ol Jimbo give you a lecture on why the KKK gets a bad rap and is just about "white culture."
