Decided he needed to step up now that his buddy Scalia isn't there. Too bad, but now I hope we get a lot more Thomas.

His vow of silence has been dead for less than a few hours and its already attracted some vultures to this thread.

When I saw "RIP Clarence Thomas..." I thought "oh, crap, another death of a Supreme Court justice to politicize!" What does that say about me? I was neither sad nor schadenfreudic, simply annoyed by the repetition in storylines.

More to the point (yes, there is value to staying on topic Tongue) the fact that he's not asked any questions since 2006 is amazing. Back when George W. Bush was President and Denny Hastert was Speaker. Let that sink in.

(Also, the idea of someone calling someone on the internet "sweaty" instead of "sweety" is hilarious. If we had a "Humorous Typos Mine" or whatever, it would make it easily.)

Not really, but I was too busy to deal with its problems sooner, and my co-mods for this board were apparently busier.

That said, it's not too surprising under the circumstance that Thomas has broken his silence.  He's always put forth as his reason for not asking more questions that he didn't feel the need to interrupt either the lawyers presenting their arguments or his fellow justices asking questions.  But in this case, he wasn't.  No doubt if Scalia had been there he would have had enuf questions to fill the time, but with him gone, we may well get to hear more from Thomas.

This is serious, guys. Was Thomas told he's got three months to live so he's trying to make up for all these years?

On a case involving Maine, no less.

I hope he asks more questions but I won't hold my breath.

He probably just copied Scalia's homework for the last decade.

Now he has to do his own.
