Lean FI. I used to be a far-right hawk on foreign policy issues, but now I'm center-right.

True neoconservatives are socially-liberal, just so you guys know. Neoconservatives are (by definition) socially liberal.

Is this question intended to be partisan.  I have a feeling Republicans will appreciate it and Democrats won't.

Also aside from my comment about partisanship, it's not really my kind of ideology.  Banning soft money, limiting spending in federal elections, and having term limits would help to end partisanship.

I think I said once it's basically what you get when you combine the worst parts of all ideologies in the worst possible way.

I'm less of contempt of it (in its academic form, not the bastardised form it took on during the Bush admin) than I am of, say, Paulite ultranationalism. Still, it's all very Trotskyite when it comes down to it, and that's never good.

Not that horrible when you come to think of it, but in practice it has failed horribly.

I'm inclined to vote FF just because it's turned into a meaningless insult similar to neoliberal. Tongue Anyways, not my cup of tea. Too socially liberal and too hawkish for my tastes.

I find it curious that people are calling this variant of conservatism "socially liberal". Wasn't one of the big things that disturbed Irving Kristol and his comrades (pun intended Tongue ) regarding the Great Society, the counterculture, the New Left, and other liberal/left-wing movements of the 1960s/1970s was their perceived "moral permissiveness", relativism, and anti-Americanism?

Just because they weren't religiously motivated doesn't mean that neoconservatives didn't feel strongly about the value of conservative social and cultural norms.
