Good for Rubio.  He also seems to be making far fewer gaffes than Bush, so the establishment would be very foolish to choose Jeb over him.

The Republicans need to accept that the Overton window has moved significantly to the left on many social issues like drugs, criminal justice, and gay marriage.  Rather than Democrats having to pitch themselves as "tough-on-crime" and "for family values," Republicans now need to be able to co-opt some progressive messages about criminal-justice reform to stay competitive.

I agree with you. We need to accept that some things are done and stick to our guns on issues where society is still divided, like abortion, for example.

This is... Interesting.

Great running-mate material. He's a bit of a policy wonk, so any administration with him in it should probably have an attack dog at State, Chief of Staff, or Press Secretary.

It is good that he has chosen not to deny the facts on this issue and face the reality of the situation, but what are his solutions? You have to do more than just identify a problem to solve it.

That's not the point. No one else is offering solutions either, and, as he says, there aren't necessarily governmental answers. The point is that, OMG a Republican is acknowledging this issue, stating that it is legitimate rather than denying it or denouncing it. The few articles that have been written about this from supporters of the BLM movement are pleasantly stunned that someone from the right is actually listening.

It's unfortunately more likely to hurt him than help him in the GOP primary but nice to see him acknowledge.
