I met a Bernie supporter on campus recently, and he's... actually reasonable despite being firmly pro-Bernie.

I did meet a crazy French foreign exchange student who HATED Trump, though. He got so loud in the hallway that professors had to shut their doors.

I was confronted by a Trump lunatic just the other night at work. This guy came into the lobby of the hotel where I worked and said, "What's black and doesn't work?" I just shook my head and he said, "Decaf coffee...but I know what you were thinking." I just continued to shake my head. Then he asks, "What do you call a black man who flies an airplane?" I just shrugged. He said "A pilot, you racist." He then said, "You see, I can say that because I AM a racist." As he was getting his coffee, he proceeded to tell me how it hasn't been until these "past 50 years" when "all the damned Mexicans began coming here illegally" when "things started getting really bad." He then asks, "What do you think of old Donald Trump?" I responded, "You probably don't want to know," and he said, "Well, I like him and I'm voting for him." I just rolled my eyes and walked off.

Not relevant to 2016 or even in the same country, but I ran into a bloke defending Juche the other day. He told me to read "On the Juche Idea" by Kim Jong-Il.

I have a friend who identifies with Juche philosophy.....he's weird.

Wait a second! I understand people tend to flirt with ideas that are exotic, but how can anyone identify with Juche? It's like a white person identify with the Nation of Islam beliefs. It doesn't make sense!

Some Hillary supporters are really crazy. And no, I don't mean for saying #HillaryUnder70 or #JunkPoll.

Not sure if this is relevant to this board, but thought It'd be interesting. So I had my Rand Paul shirt on yesterday and was at Walmart, this woman came up to me and started flipping out because I had a Republican shirt on and told me I was going to burn in hell because I didn't support "A Democrat or Ben Carson" and said I'm a racist hillbilly.... she told me that Hillary Clinton was essentially a Goddess who couldn't do any harm and that I will cause great destruction to the country and cause a nuclear apocalypse. I'm not making this up.

Oh gosh... wait till you meet bernie sander's supporters.

free this free that.

I think it's something like 35-40%, not a flat-out majority, thankfully.

I live in Illinois, of course, but I left the Chicago area about a year ago to move to central Illinois for work. I have a feeling I got out at about the right time. I'm sure it's filled with Sanders and Clinton fanboys now.

I still see their posts on Facebook. One of them in particular just hates Republicans, and I'm pretty sure I'm his only Republican friend on FB and that he thinks I'm a racist, sexist bigoted homophobe because I'm a straight white male Tea Party Republican. He posts hate-filled political rants all the time and then wonders why nobody wants to hire him (he's about my age, mid-twenties).

Central Illinois is right-leaning in most elections but fairly apolitical socially. People here, at least in my experience, don't talk about politics much, so I haven't dealt with any "crazy supporters" yet.

I have a British-Persian friend who just moved here to the U.S who votes Labour in the U.K try to sell me on Bernie Sanders (even though she says he's too right-wing for her). She says I'm self-hating because I'm not "white or Christian" and then reminds me everyday that Bush is a Republican and that if I vote for a Republican I'm automatically a racist, xenophobe, homophobe and the like and that I hate poor people and that I'm "a selfish brat". Meh.

No surprise there, it's not like downstate IL has any say at all in the election these days. Chicago votes for the democrat and the state follows suit.

Angry Did she seriously say that? Ugh, if the United States was purely run by selfish brats, she wouldn't be able to get in!
