Former President True Democrat
2008 State Avenue
Helena, Montana 59624

Senator Gabu PPT,

It is my request that the Senate of Atlasia hold formal hearings for all parties involved in a possible change of states among regions before passing any bill that would create a potential switch of between the Pacific and Midwestern regions.  It is my view any potential conflict among any of the parties involved could be easily relieved through a public discussion.  It is my request that Former Senator WMS, Governor Wildcard, Governor Cheesewhiz, myself, and any other parties the Senate believes necessary for this process be present for questioning at this hearing.  I would lastly like to thank the Senator for taking the time to read this letter.

               Most respectfully,

               True Democrat

I have no problem with this as well. I personally think something like this should have been done before any bill was proposed.

Sounds good. Probably the best thing to do now is to actually do a multi-region switch. Give Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico to the Pacific, Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin to the Midwest, and Delaware and Pennsylvania to the Mideast.

How so? We have been in the Northeast for as long as there have been regions and this is Pennsylvania's natural home, with New York and the rest of the Northeast.

PA has two parts. The east belongs with NJ, MD, and DE and the west belongs with OH, WV, IN, KY, and MI.  Easiest way to accomodate both areas is to put it in a new Mid-Atlantic Region.

A Mid-Atlantic region wouldn't work. It would be a very small region and basically be composed of states on the periphery of the old regions. It wouldn't serve any good. It wouldn't have a constitution and it would start out with absolutely no officials in office. It would be hell trying to draft a Constitution for this new region and electing officials to office. Also who is going to run this new region in the interum between becoming a new region and the first election?

Folks, the easiest and most practical and maybe the only thing that stands a chance of being approved by all parties mentioned is a state switch between New Mexico and Montana (or maybe Utah).

All of this other stuff is probably impossible, except for maybe minor switches here and there.  But even those are doubtful.

I'm not sure why we'd need an entire public hearing.  As far as I can tell, there are only two feasible options: we trade Montana for New Mexico or we trade Utah for New Mexico.  Everything else would require the consent of way too many people who are not likely to consent to be possible.

I think what we need to do is figure out what we can do or say that will make at least one of the two options satisfactory for all parties involved.

Even beyond the Susquehanna, PA has ties to the east, especially Maryland.  Much of the western part was initially settled (European settlement) by families from VA and MD.

The Mid-Atlantic would be the present Mid-East with WI given to the Midwest and KY to the SE. Plus, PA would be added.

Er, why are we talking about making an entire new region in Eastern Atlasia when this topic was simply about how to put New Mexico in the Pacific region?

I'm tempted to push the bill through and let everyone complain about it afterwards.  Tongue  This is getting ridiculous.

I, of course, will simply restate New Mexico's strong desire to join the Pacific, and point to how long I've been trying to make it happen. Smiley

How this happens exactly is the hard part, as I thought I had an agreement set up a month ago, before TD moved into MT and FUBAR'd the NM-MT PR-MR Bill. Cheesy

I thought you meant MasterJedi's Mid-Atlantic region. I still don't want PA to join with some larger Mid-East region.
