"I don’t think I’ve ever used the word gay rights, because I don’t really believe in rights based on your behavior,” the Kentucky Republican told reporters in a videotaped interview that has received little attention since it was recorded in 2013.

But it’s unclear how far — and to whom — Paul extends the argument that rights cannot be defined by behavior.

Practicing religion, for example, is a behavior enshrined as a primary American right. Free speech is behavior protected by the Bill of Rights.

Not a surprise, but his reasoning is unusual.

His reasoning is illogical.

So he's now pretty much turning into a hawk and doesn't believe in gay rights. The fact that our resident libertarians still have this clown in their signatures is pretty damn laughable.

The Pauls don't believe in rights based on group identities (race/sex/etc) but rather, all americans have 'rights' to liberty and freedom

Something like that I think

Ron Paul said this exact same thing in 2012.

I think the bigger deal here is that he believes being gay is just a behavior.

The late Texas oil billionaire H. L. Hunt said

"I believe in the Golden Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules".

Rand Paul is a libertarian on what economic elites can do with wealth and bureaucratic power and an authoritarian on much else.

FFS, was I always this naive on Paul? The idea that he could get young people to vote for him seems flawed if he comes out with comments like this
