I guess you could say for the gym, though I can't see someone like Paul LePage as a gym leader. I only have a few concrete ideas.

Michigan- Water
Maryland- Water
New Jersey- Poison
Vermont- Fairy
Alabama- Fire
Louisiana- Water
Alaska- Ice
Utah- Ghost (lolreligion)

What colors is Utah supposed to be? Also, shouldn't Dark be associated with states that don't get a lot of sunlight, rather than than sunbelt state of Texas? Tongue

So, now that we've decided the types of the States, which governors correspond to which gym leaders/bosses? Right off the bat, Cuomo can be identified with Giovanni:

What others can people think of?

Wouldn't Koga work better for him?  He's a ninja, and Ventura was a wrestler.
