Let's say oil prices stay very low for 2015 and early 2016, but spike over the summer as the previous year's constricted oil supply begins to impact the market. By fall 2016, prices at the pump are in the $4 range, breaking $5 in the most expensive markets.

How does that effect the election?

Likely it'll hurt the Democratic nominee, because a large majority of simpleton idiots think that Obama personally can raise and lower gas prices.

Yeah.  The President's party gets the blame/credit for whatever happens.

I don't see very many people giving Obama any credit for rapidly falling gas prices. He only gets the blame when they're high. Roll Eyes

Granted, most rational people know the president doesn't have too much impact on the unemployment rate or gas prices, but I find it funny how all the people bashing him for it during 2009-2013 now aren't rushing to give him the credit...

It's just hilarious to me how people think that the President personally changes the numbers on the gas price signs.
