Good pick for someone like Rand Paul or Scott Walker looking for a moderate Republican to balance out the ticket.

If they were going for a moderate and a woman, they would pick Martinez.

Martinez has family issues keeping her from being on national politics and she's indicated she wants doesn't want to be on a national ticket.

Every candidate says that.
She has a severely disabled sister she personally takes care off. It's different with her.

Maybe she won't then. I didn't know that and wasn't trying to pass judgement there.
I figured.

It's probably the only thing stopping her actually. She would make a good candidate.

Perhaps someone like Tim Scott would be a good Paul VP. However there is one thing I am concerned about with him. Black conservatives aren't usually very... popular with their communities- Paul may ruin himself with them before he even begins if he picks Scott. Kind of like HW and Clarence Thomas.

Scott is not that far different ideogiocally from Paul and votes like Cruz so not sure he'd be a good pick for him. Paul needs a moderate as his running mate if he's the nominee.

They aren't usually popular in our community, but he doesn't have to be. The difference between a Scott and Herman Cain, Alan West, & Ben Carson is that he doesn't aggravate black voters and their "plantation mentality". He doesn't make outrageous statements. Like when he was attacked by the NC NAACP President last year, he just brushed it off and turned it back on him. Scott might actually work.

Would be good for someone looking for geographical balance, female presence, congress experience, and acceptable to all GOP factions.
