Which state parties of each are the best and worst?

In this context, "best" and "worst" refer to the caliber of their candidates, their elected officials' conduct in office and the competence of the party apparatus itself.

Examples of "pluses" would be candidates overperforming the party's presidential vote share or registration share, state governors with high approval ratings, and an absence of scandal or improprieties within the party itself.

Examples of "minuses" would be candidates underperforming the party's presidential vote share or registration share, unpopular statewide officeholders, and mismanagement of the party apparatus (the financial situations of the Minnesota GOP and the Alabama Democratic Party being particularly notorious examples).

With all things considered, I put a special emphasis on local performance relative to national performance as well as degree of intraparty conflict.

Republican best: Texas, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Michigan, South Carolina, Arkansas
Republican worst: Colorado, Ohio, Rhode Island, Kansas, Washington, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Maryland

Democratic best: California, Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts, Virginia, Vermont, Colorado, Georgia, New Hampshire
Democratic worst: Oklahoma, South Carolina, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Illinois, Maine, Utah, Missouri, Idaho, Hawaii

The Delaware GOP is the worst, given that Christine O'Donnell is the best candidate they have.

To be fair, the Delaware GOP is dwarfed by the Democrats anyway. The Florida Democrats have a half a million advantage over the Florida GOP in a crucial swing state that is one of the largest in the nation, and still manage to f[Inks]k up every race they find themselves in.

Yeah, despite the GOP being in control of all major offices in these states; they clearly are in straits.

___

Anyway I'd say the Minnesota GOP and the Florida Democrats are pretty incompetent. State parties overall are less important in a world where you can skip them entirely for fundraising.

Ohio is considered a swing state, but like Florida, Republicans seem to have an impervious majority in the state legislature and a large majority in US House seats. Is this because of a good Republican Party, a bad Democratic Party, or something else (I assume it's a mix of factors at least to some degree)?

Nevada? I thought the NV GOP was supposed to be a hot mess, which is why Sandoval basically ran a parallel operation this year (endorsing his own candidates, etc).

They may be a hot mess, but they are still winning races in a state that voted for Obama twice strongly in spite of that.
