Yes, veterans are severely underpaid.  Why does this have anything to do with minimum wage?

Except that the people who oppose raising the minimum wage are the same people who want military pay to stay low...

I take it as saying that the guy flipping burgers shouldn't make more than someone in uniform. So rather than pay 15 bucks an hour for a job anybody could do, give a raise to veterans. Oh and just a little tidbit: most minimum wage workers find a higher paying job within two years. The same is not true for veterans.

Funny I seem to remember Republicans being for raises for the military.

You remember incorrectly. Here's one example of many:

A $15 minimum wage is, indeed, ridiculous and lousy economic policy but that meme-thing is the worst. Horrible.

If you use TEH TROOPS to shut down an argument you are a bad person.

How so? Its likely where the US minimum wage would be if it had a strong union movement and roughly at the point where minimum wage earners would be able to have a decent standard of living. Its not really that high for a first world nation (France 12,2, Australia 16,88, Denmark (de facto) 20).

While I agree with Oakvale that $15 is far too much, I don't see why this is relevant (or in the FC section, for that matter). We need to pay our troops more, obviously.

It would absolutely be one of the highest in the world (unless my exchange rate conception's screwed up which is always possible). Not quite Australian but the US hardly has the insane COL that Australia has. But the main concern here is that the US min wage (federally) now is what, $7/8? Suddenly doubling it isn't wise.
