Bobby Jindal is attempting to win over the religious crowd. With Huckabee looking less likely to run and Santorum dead in the polls, is Jindal the ideal social conservative candidate?

SoCons don't really have to run on their records as much, as Santorum got away with running despite losing reelection by 18 points. This is because they run on moral issues, not practical ones.

Jindal seems to have a very good story for the SoCons. Raised Hindu, converted to Christianity in high school. It would help shed the image that SoCons only represent white Europeans. His strong opposition to abortion in all cases and his firm opposition to same-sex marriage will give him the credentials this group wants to put forward. Plus he's a fresh face; he will only be 45 on Election Day 2016 as a opposed to Santorum's 58 or Huckabee's 61.

I can't see why Jindal wouldn't run if he managed to gain the SoCon base's favor.

Yes. If Santorum/Huckabee does not run, then he may be the premier social conservative in the primaries. Pence and Perry may come next, if they run.

It will certainly shake up the crowd. No Huck, who is a commanding force in polls right now means all that support will diffuse among other candidates.

It is possible that Jindal could end up being the ideal social conservative in 2016, but I don't know if that would deliever him the nomination. Huckabee was the only notable candidate who fit the social conservtative mold in 2008, yet he still lost the nomination to McCain.

It seems like Jeb Bush and Scott Walker (the son of a Baptist pastor) wouldn't have difficulty running as social conservatives, which might take oxygen from Jindal.
