I might do a GE or a Democratic Primary version of this, but now it is what it is.

Anyway, McConnell, I want this seat to be a pickup.

Wouldn't it still be a pickup even with Bevin? Huh He's more toxic than McConnell and would have less of a base against Grimes which could help Grimes in picking up some disgruntled moderates and give her a narrow, narrow win.

For that reason, Matt Bevin (D). McConnell should have been term-limited/primaried a long time ago and I love his ads, but he himself needs to be kicked out even if it's risking ending up with another Tea Party Senator.

Yes, but Bevin is doing better than McConnell in polling, but many Tea Partiers would vote for Bevin, and they wouldn't vote for McConnell, though it would be far more amusing to see McConnell get beat than Bevin.

What makes you think that? They may not like McConnell, but they'd vote for him over Grimes, especially once McConnell's campaign has been initiated in full force.

Uh, they'd not vote for the Definition of Establishment, as well as the fact that they'd be f[inks] pissed off when McConnell wins, and they'd probably sit on their hands and not vote.

And Full Force? This is the guy who managed to become the laughing stock of the internet after releasing one ad. #McConnelling

You're making a lot of assumptions there.

I thought conventional wisdom was that a Bevin victory in the primary meant that Democrats would be favoured to take the seat.

You really think so? Tea Partiers strike me as one of the groups least likely to sit out an election, even if they dislike the GOP candidate. It's not like Tea Partiers stayed home in 2012 because they disliked Romney.
