1932, because FDR smacked down Hoover, one of the worst, and FDR get's points for not being LBJ.

1964. Goldwater was not a racist and I have no doubts of that but his rhetoric of state rights was quite appealing for Dixieland. Furthermore, this same rhetoric would be useful for both Nixon and Reagan. Just talk about strong Law Enforcement, saying that Busing may and other desegregation initiatives go too far and advocating for some state rights things that you'll be fine on getting the votes of the main segregated and racist states.

That is where the term "lesser of two evils" I think originated. Vote for the Party of Lincoln who is partially bad, or the Party of Humphrey and McGovern that is all bad for you. That was part of the appeal of Wallace and his famous lines about "not a dimes worth a difference" between the two, at least nominally, pro-civil rights major parties.

1964 is better than 1936, because while both are of course victories for the American Left, 1964 is also a defeat of the American racists (Goldwater and his supporters). The political realities of 1936 meant that the racists were co-opted into FDR's coalition. 1964 was a much more "pure" victory.

These were my exact thoughts as well, which is why I also voted 1964. Either way, I also like how the FDR and LBJ landslides brought along massive majorities in Congress. Among 1932, 1936, and 1964, only the 1932 Senate election failed to bring about a supermajority. The Democratic Supermajority in 1936 was quite amazing (334-88 in the House and 76-16 in the Senate).
