Do you normally watch hockey, Doc, or are you because Bylsma is the U.S. coach and Sid is playing?

I actually like the Winter Olympics more than than the Summer Olympics. I made a point a watching quite a bit of the Vancouver Games in 2010. I'm most interested in hockey and speed skating. I really like a lot of the sports. The only one I really have absolutely no interest in watching is figure skating, which unfortunately tends to get the best time slots on TV.

To answer the poll: very interested.

I don't know either why anyone would watch "figure skating" ...

Maybe because it's similar to that "Dancing with the Stars" crap, that's quite popular with middle-aged people.

My sister also likes to watch this useless stuff ... Tongue

I'm not white and it never snows where I'm from, so I have very little interest in the Winter Olympics. The last time I paid much attention was 2002, and that was the stage in my life when I would watch anything sports-related on TV. As far as I can recall, I watched none of the last Winter Olympics. Mostly they just serve to make me upset that there are still 2½ years until the actual Olympics.

Very interested, obviously. Especially in hockey and curling.

I admit the Winter olympics is very white-dominated, but there are a few Blacks on the Canadian team. There's even a black guy on the hockey team!

Considering Canada does sh*t at the Summer Olympics, and my two favourite sports are hockey and curling, I do enjoy the winter games a lot more than the summer. But, I love the Olympics anyways.

I watched it in 2010 and 2006 as well. I still remember in 2010 being on the edge of my seat during the duel between Sid and Ryan Miller. Probably the only time I'd root against Crosby would be in the Olympics against USA. I have watched the hockey competition going back off and on into the 90s though. I do genuinely like hockey and would still watch it if it was entirely an amateur team.

And bobsled I just like because I liked Cool Runnings as a child and I've watched the bobsled competition in every Olympics I've watched.

some Dancing with the Stars crap?!   Uh, no. More like the ballet or even the circus.  It is an art form that takes a great amount of athletic skill and can create some real drama.

Sure beats watching people sweep the ice in front of a rock. Tongue

As you can tell I'm very interested, though beforehand for me it was more anxiety about the security situation and some of the other news coming out of there than excitement.  Several years ago I went to Pyatigorsk, so I've been thinking a lot about them. I realized that when our group took a day trip to the ski resort in Dombai, I was actually only 100 miles from where they are doing the Alpine events.

Some good pair skating last night.  I don't think I'd make a good judge since I always thought it was wonderful.

FWIW, I have never watched Dancing with the Stars and have no intention of doing so, so I wouldn't know whether pair skating is similar to it.
