Ballotpedia has explanations of all these.

I'm partial to option 3. That way if you're not going to win Gov, you can at least try to salvage the LG race.

I like all the options except for the "LG comes form the legislature" one. I can see the rationale for each one, though the separate ticket one seems to give more democracy to the process.

I like option 3 the best. It puts more power in the hands of the people in terms of selecting entirely individual candidates based on their preferences.

I think it should depend on how the office works in that state.

If the job of lieutenant Governor is extremely weak and without any real statutory authority or job, option 1 seems best.  If it's essentially an advisor and designated fill-in, that makes sense.  You avoid campaign money wasted for a trivial job and you avoid the John Adams - Thomas Jefferson problem.

If the lieutenant governor actually has a significant power, like in Texas, they should probably run on their own so they have popular legitimacy.

Option 3

I wish President and VP were elected separately as well. Then the horror of Dick Cheney would never have occurred.

I would prefer for them to be on the same ticket, for the primary and the general.

Other: Abolish the position, and if the Governorship is vacant, allow a special election to fill the position

I really don't care that much on the method, but if I had to choose, then probably Option 2.

Option 3, especially after having Catherine Baker Knoll foisted upon us. I'd have voted for both Republican Lt.Gov. candidates over her.

The LG should come from the legislature.

Add an element of parliamentarianism to U.S. State governments Smiley

We're currently number 3, but starting with the 2018 elections we'll be either 1 or 2.  I don't think the GA has written the enabling legislation for the change yet, so I don't know how the selection process for the ticket will go.

Other. I'd abolish the office of Lieutenant Governor and have the Governor elected by the Legislature (in other words, a parliamentary system).

The LG should come from the legislature.

Two states already use a similar system. In Tennessee, the Speaker of the State Senate is the Lieutenant Governor. It's a very similar situation in West Virginia.

I prefer the same ticket, like Prez/VP
