Well, disarming the police force could only occur if our gun control laws were extremely liberalized, and I think just about everyone can agree on that. Considering America's size, the amount of guns manufactured and sold in the United States, and the certainty that a large black market would be formed in the event of strict gun control laws, I would certainly oppose this. Not only are we leaving officers defenseless against potentially armed victims, but this would almost certainly lead to a decrease in police force and it would become increasingly difficult to bring new folks in.

As long as criminals have guns, the police need them too. For the record, I think guns should be banned in most cases, but not for the police.
