I can understand wanting to keep funerals apolitical, but if that was the intent (and it may not have been), then the email has certainly backfired.  The reporter doesn't say how he got the email, that would be interesting to know.

This isn't about the character of the most popular politician (now that Bill Young has passed) in the county. It's about a widow politicizing a public funeral by disinviting Charlie, Charlie Justice, and Jessica Ehrlich (two of whom I've had the pleasure to meet - both decent folks), while talking about how she doesn't want a political funeral and delivering a whole batch of accusations against the three of them along with it. As an aside, John Boehner will be delivering remarks.

The reporter doesn't say how he got the email, that would be interesting to know.

The issue isn't so much their entitlement to do so, but the manner in which they did it. If they want to privately send an email to someone asking them not to attend out of respect of Bill's wishes or to ensure a nonpartisan event, that's fine. To send an email to them telling them that, "People like you are the exact people that makes this world a scary place to live in" (Beverly Young in an email to Jessica Ehrlich), and then sharing that email with a reporter, is the issue here. It's a lack of class, basically.

Talk is that Tom Young, a retired businessman and brother of CW Bill, may run for the seat. Bill Young II (his son), Beverly Young (his wife), Mayor George Cretekos (formerly Young's district director), and David Jolly (Young's lawyer) are all possible candidates.

Beverly Young - it wouldn't be an exaggeration to describe her as the least liked woman in Tampa Bay now. Could really hurt Jolly's campaign, given that he's so identified with her.
