While it is a fact racism exists, I notice that for some reason people on the left seem to be of the opinion that every white male in this country (who is not a Democrat) might as well be from rural Mississippi.

Half of the Republican Party believe that black people are treated equally or better than whites by American society. The other half of the Republican Party inevitably manage, through their words and actions, to prove that is certainly not the case.

I don't know what "racist bloc" you're talking about but if it did exist I doubt it would support him, acting neutral at best towards the guy.

It's like saying that socons would support the WBC because they both oppose gay marriage.

This is offhand but I feel if the WBC stayed away from military funerals and the like, the socons might have supported them until recently.

As one of the forum's resident socons, I should point out that we were bitching about WBC hurting the cause long before reddit heard of them Tongue

Um, what? The WBC literally hates every other religious group/organization other than itself. Fred Phelps once tweeted that George Washington and Ronald Reagan were burning in Hell.

Hopefully he has learned why his comments were so unacceptable, but given the level of indignant support he has received from the right I sincerely doubt it.

The sad thing is that if a Republican representative called Obama a n!gger during one of his speeches, he'd be flooded with campaign contributions for his "bravery".

uhm....what. Why do I get the feeling you do not get out and travel much? While it is a fact racism exists, I notice that for some reason people on the left seem to be of the opinion that every white male in this country (who is not a Democrat) might as well be from rural Mississippi.

If a Republican representative, even from the most racist district out there, used the N word today he would be rightfully forced to resign by the end of the day and never hold office again.

While it's true he would likely be forced into resignation, that wouldn't change the fact that the racist bloc of the GOP would adore him, and he'd coast on wingnut welfare for the rest of his life.

Oh, come on. I'm not saying that all Republicans are racist or even the majority are, but it can't be denied there is a huge racist bloc of voters within the GOP. Who do you think the politically attuned Stormfront and Free Republic commenters are voting for? Certainly not Democrats.

Of course I'm not denying that there many racist GOPers (hence Obama's numbers in states like KY and WV), but I had doubts that they made up a distinct, indentifiable portion of the party. Racism cannot be defined like income, age or race obviously, so the notion of the distinctly racist bloc doesn't really work. I will agree that to deny that the GOP probably has more racists than the Democratic Party implies either an absolute lack of political knowledge or an 1860's mindset.

From what little I've seen, they're like true leftists. They think both parties aren't doing enough to stop race mixing or whatever their campaign issues are.
