Sounds about par for the course for Louisiana.  Unashamedly hypocritical and backwards, and moving in the wrong direction.  Yet we still have a special place in our hearts for Louisiana... because no matter how backwards... they'll still show you their boobies for the price of a cheap plastic necklace.

People in Louisiana don't, because we've already got attics full of beads, but tourists from out of state sure do.

meanwhile at the Huffington Post...

"some nut somewhere is doing something nutty, and we better report on it because we want to keep our jobs here.  It's not like we'll get hired by CNN or the Washington Post, and any job is better than no job, so let's go out and find some arcane bit of lexicon to post on-line."

I'm not sure why this guy is so concerned about Mexicans in Louisiana learning English, considering most Mexicans in Texas speak English better than the majority of white and black Louisianans.

Someone's just jealous because no one ever taught him any English (I'm reasonably certain it was not his father's first language.)

Also, Lindel Toups is a Democrat. Ahh, la Louisiane.

Once again a story which could very well have been featured on The Onion.

Those filthy immigrants who come to our country to steal our language!!!

I'm pretty sure everyone in Louisiana over the age of 65 will call themselves a Democrat, whether they're to the left of Dennis Kucinich or to the right of Ted Cruz.

Lindel Toups represents the second most Democratic district on Lafourche council parish, essentially the town of Raceland (at 62.2% McCain - but that's in addition to seven 72 to 82 districts and a gerrymandered Black majority district on the south side of Thibodaux.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVWsBDaeSOc

Yes, I found a map and redrew it on dra. Cheesy
