The Tea Party is now hyping Mike Lee as one of their leaders. Does anyone think he might have as much of a chance to be the GOP nominee as Rand Paul or Ted Cruz?

I know it sounds laughable, but remember, we're not dealing with a serious party.

Mike Lee sounds like one of the three that will try to stay in the Senate.

Mike Lee is Rand Paul + Ted Cruz. Those three in one primary = no.

I don't think that Mike Lee will run in 2016, but he might be picked as the Vice-Presidential nominee down the road in the 2020s. For example, in my "FDR keeps Henry Wallace as Vice-President" timeline that I have drafted out to the 2040s, I have Greg Abbott winning the Republican nomination in 2028 and he picks Mike Lee as his running-mate, but loses in a landslide to President Elizabeth Warren's Vice-President, who wins the Democratic nomination.

Mike Lee could win the Presidential election.

If it is rigged, that is.

IIRC, Mike Lee has stated that he is not planning on running for President.

Nah, it's unlikely the morman elders will push Lee to run in 2016. Two failed candidacies in a row would be a huge setback for the goal of fulfilling the White Horse Prophecy.

Lee is Ted's lap dog, he won't cross Ted Cruz.

Lee is a follower; he doesn't have the raw ambition that Ted Cruz or Rand Paul so obviously have. Plus, the Senate seat is his forever, so why would he want to run?

No the guy doesn't have mass appeal to win the Republican Nomination for President. Even Utah Voters are mad at him for the whole shutdown.

Another Mormon?  Though I don't think people really care at this point.

I think he's content to be the conservative watch dog in the Senate -- on a genuine level, not for the sake of self-promotion like Cruz.  I wonder if his ultimate goal is SCOTUS, though he's showed some abrasiveness that probably hurt his viability if it continued.
