So much for the myth that the Tea Party is just a bunch of plain working Americans chipping in $200 here or there because they just want their country back.

Kind of goes against their desire for "less government, more freedom" (their words, not mine).

And the organization is a cash cow for the people on its payroll...

And what do they have to show for all this money?

That's basically it.

You overlooked the best part

http://www.buzzfeed.com/rosiegray/sources-cash-strapped-freedomworks-in-state-of-financial-dis

They've actually had to take out a $1 million  line of credit.  Line of credit is, of course, fancy talk for debt.  But they do have a craft beer bar.

In what universe is the term "charity" used to describe a political activist group?

Non-profit =/= Charity

This is terrible. United Way and Make a Wish are also very bad with how they package sick kids in order to keep donations coming in.

Poor wording/Me wanting to b*tch about the United Way.

Point is, large groups that solicit money often don't spend it the way you think they spend it.

This is so true. Hell, just look how Newt Gingrich made his money between 2000-2012.

Probably in the sort of universe in which "wages" are considered "charity".
