My gosh, look at all those Mormons - even Alaska's riddled with them.

For me the neat thing about that map is the dot of Lutheranism that is Newberry County.  That's a legacy of the area being settled by Germans in colonial times.

Wow, the LDS has expanded a lot from the last map. Would be interested to see the breakdown of the "other" counties. I'm pretty sure the three towards north east Ohio are Amish/Mennonite.

It looks like this map excludes the unaffiliated.

The LDS Church probably has better retention than other churches, especially their main rival in the West- Catholics. Not to mention Mormon birth rates.

IIRC the "Other" county in Vermont is Episcopal, and most of the "Other"s in the Deep South are AME or other "black churches".  Northwest corner of Iowa and western Michigan is probably Dutch Reformed.  I think the Alaskan Bush has some Eastern Orthodox as a legacy of Russia's time there, but I might be mistaken.  That's all I got.

Wouldn't that be UCC because I remember that was the case for the 2000 map.

Wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong.

Wow, the LDS has expanded a lot from the last map.

No kidding. Compare to the 2000 map:

Mormonism has been slowly expanding out of Utah and spreading throughout the rest of the western US. Look how much of Wyoming now has LDS as the leading church body.
