"The role of citizens, of Christianity, is to take care of each other, not for Washington to steal from those in the country and give to others in the country."

Guess which party!

I'm so annoyed that I was gerrymandered into this hillbilly's district. East Memphis has no business in TN-8. We're the business center of a medium sized city in a rural district. Sigh....

Looking for a non-hypocrite in the Republican caucus is as futile as searching for a virgin in Hollywood.

I don't get it. If you want to give to the poor, does it matter how? If money is free speech then is advocating to and eventually helping the poor through the political process the same as charity?

At risk of sounding condescending, this man is the biggest hayseed I've ever come across and has no business serving in the House of Representatives. And I would like to know precisely how much food he has given to the poor and working class this year.

Apparently the Congressman hasn't read the Prophets, who were always after the governments of Israel and Judah to take care of the widow and the orphan.  I never read anything suggesting that Jesus thought the Prophets were full of hot air when they urged that.

"Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need." - Acts 2:44-45

-The first Christian church was founded on the beliefs of socialism (*gasp*), not capitalism.

"Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me." - Mark 10:21

-Jesus was a Communist!
