Normally this wouldn't be particularly newsworthy, but the guy was trying to swim from the South to the North and was shot by a South Korean corporal after refusing to stop.

A shame. The man was truly set on reaching the true freedom and happiness only seen in the Glorious Democratic People's Republic of Korea under the eternal watch of Kim Il-sung.

Are you being sarcastic or not? I mean, with your latest posts it’s kinda hard to discriminate.

North Korea does seem to give people who want to move there royal treatment for PR purposes.

Of course I am. North Korea's joke status is accepted across the ideological spectrum.

Why exactly would South Korean border guards shoot someone going to North Korea? Huh

The person could have been a North Korean infiltrator returning after a mission.  Or he could have been a one man false flag operation, i.e, the running mongrel dogs of the South sent this man to spy on us.  Given the tension on the DMZ there are plenty of sane reasons for that corporal to have shot him.
