So he spoke for 21 hours...just to vote with the Democrats?

He spoke for 21 hours to fight for the people of Texas who don't want Obamacare. He's not my senator and he isn't your senator. He represents Texas and represented them well.

Who was he fighting for when he was reading Dr. Seuss? He clearly ran out of substantive things to say like 2 hours in. The speech was never intended to accomplish anything with regards to Obamacare, and it obviously didn't.

He's my senator, and I think he's terrible. Independent of his political ideology (which I'll concede a majority of Texans are apparently just fine with), his personality and his egotistic grandstanding make Texans look bad.

Texans would rather listen to Cruz for 21 hours about anything than have the government tell them what they're health insurance is going to cost. The majority of Texans are against Obamacare and Cruz is willing to do whatever it takes to stop it. People like you can nitpick and say "Dr. Seuss this" and "Dr. Seuss that," but at the end of the day nothing changes from the fact that Ted Cruz is serving his state as they wish to be served and doing anything he can to defeat Obamacare.

You're right barfbag, I'm sure the liberty-lovin patriotic citizens of Texas would love having their taxpayer dollars wasted to keep the Senate in session while their Senator tells bedtime stories. It would be one thing if Cruz talking for 21 hours actually ended Obamacare, but if the outcome was going to be that Obamacare remained the same either way, I don't see why this would be good for Texans.

So all you're telling us is that someone's cause is only justified if they succeed? So did Susan B. Anthony waste people's time if women's suffrage didn't end until 14 years after her death? I believe it was 14 years. What about those who fought to end segregation prior to its ending? Were their efforts a waste of taxpayer dollars because their cause didn't end segregation until Brown vs. Board of Education or even more particular the Civil Rights Bill of 1964? Well?

No. There was a 0% chance of Ted Cruz succeeding with this 21 hour filibuster, he admitted that, and he voted with the Democrats. The filibuster was simply for show, he also admitted that, and that is why it was a useless waste of taxpayer money to keep the Senate in session. He literally admitted it was for show and would not change the outcome. That has nothing to do with fighting for women's rights or segregation, because those people were fighting for something to happen, with the hope that it actually would. And it did. Also, they were not reading "Green Eggs and Ham" to show their opposition to segregation and gender inequality; they just fought against them. The comparison you just made is one of the most heinous ones I've ever heard, and no matter what you say, you will not get around the fact that Cruz's 21-hour non-filibuster was nothing but a waste of taxpayer money that was bad for Texans.

What he did was worth seeing Democrats so uptight right now. A bigger waste of tax payer money be for Michelle Obama's $180,000 cruise in 2011. It might be cheaper than keeping the senate open but it has less value.

First of all, I would like to ask who was talking about Michelle Obama?
Secondly, I believe that Cruz did this for publicity reasons, not for the people of Texas as you say. Yeah we get it. People in Texas don't like the Affordable Care Act, but what Cruz did was completely unnecessary, for him to hold a 21 hour filibuster and then vote with the opposite party. Next, you have Texans, not you, you're a Virginian, but they are Texans from Texas and they don't like Ted Cruz. Because his egotistical grandstanding makes Texas look bad. You are not from Texas, barfbag, and I will hold their judgement much higher than yours because their state elected Cruz, not your's, theirs. So please stop saying "He's not your Senator, he's not my Senator, but he represents the people of Texas well." because you are hearing from Texans who are saying that they do not like this guy.

Barfbag, what do you actually perceive the purpose of Ted Cruz's "filibuster" to have been? Do you think the purpose of the speech was actually to defeat or delay the bill?

What a pointless waste of time. At least the other filibusters achieved something. This was just Ted Cruz rambling on for a day while he had the Senate to himself only to then vote in favor of the measure he was fauxibusting.

Working class people have to do much harder things than this every day, hopper.  That's capitalism.

I'm sure it is hard to stand that long though. I'm sure you or I could not stand for 21 hours. He did this overnight into the morning too. I'm surprised he didn't fall asleep while standing.
