Disgusting.  I am sick and tired of these self-righteous, self-anointed 'men of God' making a living off judging people and dictating how everyone lives their lives as they go out and deceive people so they can continue to live above those they claim to have mercy for.  And somehow, they always get away with it.

Of all the terrible things Pat Robertson has said or done, this has got to be the worst, yet of course his loyal fans will continue praising him.

It's gross how these pastors lives' become a giant projection where they demand their followers to live like he appears to live while he actually becomes everything that his followers loathe.

Actually that is kind of a neat analogy of the salvation process.  Because what was Jesus but a giant scapegoat for humanity's sinful ways?

There was another thread discussing this a few days ago. I'll post what I posted there.

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.  And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed.  And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
~ 2 Peter:1-3

Preachers like Robertson, Joyce Meyer and Benny Hinn are the reason why I`m so wary of low church polity.

I just read a really interesting piece about Millennials and religion.  They're leaving the church altogether at rising rates...but there actually seems to be some growth in interest for the older mainline protestant or catholic churches.

It seems they prefer the ritual and tradition that are much harder to corrupt than the flashy bible banger get up and dance churches... so they can have faith in that.  The church that changes slowly changes most holy!

And the mainline branches have been moving in the more tolerant direction of late, which will also attract millennials.

I just realize how prudently protestant or responsibly catholic it is to say "the church that changes slowly changes most holy!"
