Your opinion on Pakistan

I run a blog about Pakistan and its history, and I was interested in finding out what people on this forum have to say about the country. I've come up with three questions for people to answer regarding Pakistan:

1) What is your opinion on the current situation in Pakistan?
2) Why did the country go down the route it has over the last few decades?
3) What can be done to 'save' the country and bring it back to a path towards recovery?

I'd prefer if people would answer keeping a sense of reality regarding the situation in the region. I don't think comments about splitting the country into smaller states are really realistic, so try to stay away from that area (after all, we're trying to find out what can be done to save the country).

If you have any more ideas you'd like to share about Pakistan that don't fit into those three categories, feel free to share. Just remember to keep them sensible!
