Good, we don't need another patriot act. Of course though, I am concerned about terrorism, but it has gone too far with the government now spying into our life.

And in a house somewhere in NW Ohio, a redheaded dude named Naso just shook his head in disappointment.

U.S. citizens should be more concerned with their loss of liberties when people like Obama ask for the e-mails of those with fishy criticism over the healthcare bill. Democrats, can you imagine if President Bush asked for your e-mail over your criticism of the Iraq War? It's time to stop being partisan and come together as Americans. Part of me wants to say how today everyone knows their rights to protest but doesn't respect authority, but there's a fine line. Terrorists and non-citizens are the ones who we use such tactics on and not our own fellow Americans.

Lastly, let me add in Bush's defense that he was honest enough to legalize the Patriot Act. Let's face it, when the government has the technology to do something, they're going to do it whether it passes through congress and makes it onto everyone's news networks or not. Even if we can dream of a president who overturns parts of the Patriot Act, the tactics are still going to be used because the technology is out there. Believe it or not certain members of the CIA, FBI, and secret service are above the law.

I suspect killing Bin Laden had a lot to do with this although I'm glad even things like the Boston marathon bombings didn't prevent this development.

I don't have anything to hide and I know for a fact the government isn't concerned with my phone conversations. They'd be bored out of their minds.

That's what you think. What matters is what the government thinks you have to hide. We know for fact that they monitor the Internet virtually nonstop - so who's to say they haven't seen how you criticize the president? And who's to say they haven't put you on one of their watchlists because of it? That uncertainty is precisely why we ought to be more concerned about government spying than we should be of a plane happening to divebomb into our back yard. The latter would be a one-in-a-million fluke. The former is a reality.

Then you obviously won't mind them putting you on around the clock surveillance. They'll know everything about you from the moment you wake up, to the next time you take a piss, to whoever you're potentially sleeping with that night. Surely you wouldn't mind...
