What if Wallace was the President? Do you think Democrats would've have offed him? Do you think he would've run for re-election at all? Give me your thoughts, with maps!

I think Wallace faces the challenge for the Democratic nomination from the same man who challenged him for the Vice Presidency Harry Truman, and Harry Truman wins the Democratic nomination. Undeterred, Wallace announces his candidacy for the Progressive Ticket, with Senator Glen H. Taylor on the ticket. Truman, who southern delegates felt was too liberal and too passive on unions, go with Richard Russell for his VP. Republicans, looking at the numbers, pick Thomas Dewey for President, and as history goes, he picks Earl Warren for VP.

Because of the conservative Democratic ticket, Thurmond doesn't run.

Governor Thomas Dewey (R-NY)/Governor Earl Warren (R-CA) - 45.2%, 317 EV's
Senator Harry Truman (D-MO)/Senator Richard Russell (D-GA) - 23.7%, 141 EV's
President Henry Wallace (D-IA)/Senator Glen H. Taylor (D-ID) - 29.7%, 73 EV's
Others - 1.4%, 0 EV's

Well he'd be better than the other two candidates who ran. Truman did poorly with Korea and Dewey was a fiscal hermit crab.

Wallace!? Jesus Christ. Far left and at the time sympathetic to the USSR, he would've been a disaster.

And Max, I like your map, but Dewey's home state was New York, so even if Wallace by default would get New York, I think Dewey can keep it from the incumbent President.

Wallace was a little crazy. I'm just trying to get people excited. My choice would've been Harry Truman.
